One generator, four useful grille families

Use perforated mesh for electronics enclosures and speaker covers, an open grid for fan guards and high-flow vents, angled louvers when you need rain or line-of-sight protection, or a solid cap to close an unused opening.

The opening dimensions stay independent from the flange and rear insert. That means you can size the functional fit first, then add enough overlap and mounting detail for the installation.

Measure the opening

Use calipers or a ruler to record the opening width and height. Add clearance for the rear insert if required.

Select mesh, grid or louvers, then use the live open-area estimate to balance airflow and protection.

Generate the model, orbit around the mounting details, then export STL for Cura, PrusaSlicer or Bambu Studio.

Grille generator FAQ

What dimensions should I enter for a replacement vent grille?

Measure the opening that the grille must fit, not the size of the old flange. Enter that as the opening width and height, then use flange width to control how far the cover overlaps the surrounding surface.

Which grille pattern provides the most airflow?

An open grid usually provides the highest free area. Hex mesh offers a good strength-to-airflow balance, while angled louvers trade some airflow for rain, glare and line-of-sight protection.

Can this generator create a press-fit insert?

Yes. Set insert depth and insert wall to create a collar behind the face. For a real press fit, measure the opening and apply your printer-specific clearance—commonly 0.2 to 0.5 mm per side for FDM printers.

Why did the tool adjust one of my dimensions?

Print-safe guardrails protect minimum web thickness, positive opening sizes, screw-hole edge distance and browser rendering limits. Disable the guardrails only when you understand the manufacturing tradeoff.

Does the grille generator export OpenSCAD source?

No. The site generates and validates the model internally, then exports a print-ready STL after you confirm the preview.
